What’s the first clause of the first amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America?
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”
Okay, I get that. And from what I know about the founding dads, who were primarily deists, they were particularly keen on keeping religion out of congressional debates. Logic and reason were to rule.
So why the controversy in Alabama?
Seems pretty clear to me that the Ten Commandments is a religious litany. Seems pretty clear that a Supreme Courthouse is a government facility. Of course, when you have religious fever, there’s no end to what the devout will do to “spread” the word.
And then there’s the matter of the Pledge of Allegiance. As a student I always wondered why “under God” was included in the Pledge. We were taught early about the amendments, so why the immediate hypocrisy? Sure, if you apply a lower case “g” to god, it can mean about anything, but I doubt that is what the Knights of Columbus had in mind in 1954 when “under God” was added.
So here we are, still bickering about God in government. As a born-again heathen, I admit that I have no love for the church, be it Catholic, Buddhist or Islamic. When you’re talking about a free republic with no direct religious affiliations, you must speak to everyone. So get rid of God in your government. After all, you are welcome to use God everywhere else at any time because of this simple separation.
Sorry for the hacked entry for today. I kind of busted it out. Moreover, I’m sure you’re as sick as I am of this whole debate. Even if you are on the other side of it.

Okay, I lied, the new Web site does not have searchable blahgs. I simply don’t have the time right now to cross-index them. But, you do have a slightly new site! And there’s two new sections (with nothing currently in them). The projects section will contain information on just the things I’m working on while the pictures section will just contain photo albums. Nifty, eh?
I’ve got an update to make regarding the premiere of Interview and future edits of it. So come back soon!

Been gone. Humboldt County. Apex, North Carolina. Other places.
Vacation is where it’s at.
Now I’m back. Apparently while I was out, the good people of California have decided to recall Gov. Davis. Can’t I leave you people alone for a moment? Seriously. Arnold Schwarzenegger? Is this really happening? The guy has a seriously violent movie out and he makes his bid to run on the Tonight Show. Is it government or govertainment? And Gary Coleman? Holy crap. I’m moving back to Texas, where they know how to get rid of silly governors. Just kidding, Dad. Don’t pull the mattress out of the attic.
Well, Interview is done. Completed in the dead of night and shoved into a mailbox the following morning. After 5+ weeks in his office editing, Jeremy looked like Jared Leto’s amputated arm in Requiem for a Dream. Now we are ready to premiere the film. My main question is: does it suck? From what I’ve seen it doesn’t. It’s definitely not your typical filmed entertainment, though. Looks very much like a stage play on screen. We’ve all seen these hasty adaptations of theatrical productions. They never look quite right. The camera seems less important, the acting a little overdone, the ending ironic. Interview is like that. And at over 60 minutes, this short really tests the audiences ability to sit still and listen to dialogue. If that’s your bag, please send 29.99 and a SASE to me.
Tonight we will record some commentary for the DVD that Jeremy’s making. Should be as or more entertaining than the actual film.
Interview was the first film from this company. We planned, built sets for, rehearsed and shot it in less than three weeks. It’s safe to say that we all learned a great deal. The great thing is that everyone in the group is eager to make another film. Sworn to confidentiality, I cannot tell you what it’s about, but I can say that nothing like it has EVER been done.
I’ll post some scenes from the film soon. And a new site. And my unwavering love.
